Somerville is the county seat of Fayette County, and the population was 2861 in 2003.  The population is steadily growing due to the immigration of the many families from Shelby County.  Just as Oakland, Somerville offers low taxes and low cost of living.  It's a tight-knit, friendly, family-oriented community with an historic town square and courthouse which are still in operation today!  During the summer months, local residents can be found lying on blankets in the local municipal park enjoying some of their favoorite food and beverages while listening to free live concerts.
